Termite Treatment Options

Termites

Chemical Treatment Zones

By applying chemicals to the main areas of termite attack, we are able to provide protection from termite entry into concealed areas. The two main types of chemicals that we use for our treatments are classified as:

Non-Repellent – Fipronil
Designed to allow termites to forage around in areas of the treated zone whilst coming into contact with the chemical and picking it up through ingestion and contact.

Termites are social insects that live together in large colonies and feed and groom each other. The termites that have come into contact with the chemical soon pass it on to others. Even those secondarily affected termites can also pass the chemical on through feeding or contact. Non-repellent chemicals can control whole termite populations faster than any other treatment, but it is relatively slow-acting in individual termites. This means termites have ample time before dying to spread the chemical to their nest, and the entire colony.

We use the original formulation of fipronil trade named TERMIDOR SC and TERMIDOR HE.

Repellent
When these types of chemical are applied, they are designed to kill termites on contact and repel other termites from the treated zone. They provide for a very effective treatment that bonds to the soil particles and stays in place once treatment has been carried out and the water from the emulsion has dried out.

Our select chemical for Repellent barriers is BIFLEX ULTRA LOW ODOUR containing the active ingredient bifenthrin, that is a pyrethrum modelled on nature’s own chrysanthemum flower.

Termite Bait Stations

This method of termite control has changed immensely over the years. We began with installed bait stations to the perimeter of the house merely containing timber interceptors to technologically advanced granules placed in the base of the station that enter to surrounding soil and create an attractive environment for termites and lures them into the bait station. We also now have cartridges and interceptors that are placed inside the stations during installation and maintenance that actually have active termite controlling ingredients in them which attract termites to feed on ingesting active ingredients that are once again undetected and then passed on to the rest of the termite colony through termite contact, essentially taking it back to the nest with the aim of eliminating the termite colony.

We are fortunate to have a great range of the bait stations manufactured by quality companies and we choose to use the products brand named – TRELONA, manufactured by the same makers of TERMIDOR, EXTERRA and SENTRICON.
